From Greek syzygía (union), which literally means pair of opposites that link or hook.
Astronomy: Alignment of at least three stars -or another celestial bodies- belonging to the same gravitational system.
E.g.: The aligned position of the Sun, the Earth and the Moon during an eclipse, a new or a full moon.
